Pennsylvania's governor signed a new law permitting the conversion of Hotel ("H") licenses to Restaurant ("R") licenses. This includes H licenses that are grandfathered at their current locations and could historically not be moved. For a fee of $30,000, the H license can be converted into an R license, which would make it available for sale and to be me moved throughout the county it is located in. In some counties, this could mean BIG MONEY for an H license holder that wants to sell their license and previously could not. Also, if an H license holder is thinking about selling in the future, it can convert now or later to prepare for that.
